About GetTaxCalculator
What We Do
GetTaxCalculator provides free, interactive tax calculators for US taxpayers. We currently offer 23 published calculators covering federal income tax, paycheck estimation, capital gains, bonus tax, tax refund estimation, W-4 withholding, estimated tax penalties, child tax credit, FICA, self-employment tax, 401(k) tax savings, IRA comparison, HSA tax savings, hourly-to-salary conversion, overtime pay, quarterly estimated taxes, and all seven OBBBA deduction tools (no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, Schedule 1-A, senior bonus deduction, SALT cap, OBBBA phase-out, and standard vs itemized deduction). State income tax calculators and additional tools are in active development.
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. You enter your numbers, we do the math on the spot, and nothing is sent to a server. The goal is straightforward: give people accurate, easy-to-use tools that answer real tax questions without requiring a spreadsheet or a CPA appointment.
Why We Built This
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), signed into law in 2025, created significant new tax deductions that affect millions of workers. The tip income deduction alone applies to an estimated 4 million workers in food service, hospitality, and other tipped occupations. The overtime deduction changes take-home pay calculations for anyone earning hourly wages above 40 hours per week. The senior bonus deduction provides an additional $6,000 above-the-line deduction for taxpayers 65 and older.
But understanding these provisions requires navigating complex phase-outs, eligibility rules, and state conformity questions. Does your state conform to the federal tip deduction? At what AGI does the overtime deduction begin to phase out? How does the senior bonus interact with the standard deduction for seniors? We built these tools to make the math accessible, so anyone can plug in their own numbers and get a clear answer.
How We Source Data
Every tax figure on this site is sourced from official government publications:
- Federal tax brackets and standard deductions: IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32
- OBBBA provisions: IRC §224 (tips), §225 (overtime), §70103 (senior bonus)
- FICA rates and wage base: Social Security Administration annual COLA announcements
- State tax data: Each state's Department of Revenue or equivalent agency
- ACA subsidy data: HHS Federal Poverty Level guidelines and IRS applicable percentage tables
All sources are linked on every calculator page and compiled on our Sources page. We do not use secondary sources, news articles, or tax preparation software documentation as primary references.
Verification Process
All tax figures carry a verification status. Before a calculator is published, every figure it depends on must be verified against the primary source document. Our verification dashboard tracks individual data points across 51 jurisdictions as we build out our growing suite of tools. We use an automated publish gate that prevents pages from going live with unverified data.
When tax law changes (whether through new legislation, IRS guidance, or state-level updates), we update the affected data points, re-verify against the new source, and note the change date. Calculators that depend on pending or unverified figures display a clear warning to users.
Correction Policy
If you find an error in any calculation or data point, please contact us immediately. We take tax accuracy seriously. A wrong number can cause real harm. We commit to investigating and correcting reported errors within 24 hours and clearly noting corrections on affected pages.
What This Site Is Not
This site provides educational estimates only. It is not a tax preparation service, does not file returns, and does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. Our calculators produce estimates based on the inputs you provide and the tax rules in effect at the time. Your actual tax liability depends on your complete financial picture, which only a qualified tax professional can evaluate.
Always consult a qualified tax professional for decisions about your specific situation.
