Hourly Paycheck Calculator 2026 - With Overtime + Take-Home Pay

Turn an hourly wage into a paycheck. The calculator adds regular pay and overtime at 1.5x (the FLSA minimum for hours over 40), then subtracts 2026 federal income tax, 6.2% Social Security and 1.45% Medicare. It also estimates the federal no-tax-on-overtime deduction on the premium part of your overtime pay.

How This Hourly Paycheck Calculator With Overtime Works

  1. Weekly pay: regular hours x hourly rate, plus overtime hours x (hourly rate x multiplier).
  2. Annual pay: weekly pay x 52.
  3. Per paycheck: annual pay divided by 52 (weekly), 26 (every two weeks), 24 (twice a month) or 12 (monthly).
  4. Federal income tax: the 2026 brackets applied to annual pay minus the standard deduction ($16,100 single), spread across your paychecks.
  5. FICA: 6.2% Social Security on pay up to $184,500, and 1.45% Medicare on all pay.

The result is an estimate of what an employer would withhold over a year. Your actual withholding depends on your W-4, and your actual tax is settled on your return.

Overtime Pay and the No Tax on Overtime Deduction

For covered employees, the Fair Labor Standards Act requires overtime of at least 1.5 times the regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. Of that overtime pay, only the premium, the part above your regular rate, counts for the federal overtime deduction (IRC §225). At time-and-a-half, that is one third of your overtime pay.

  • Cap: $12,500 a year ($25,000 married filing jointly).
  • Phase-out: the cap shrinks by 10% of modified AGI above $150,000 ($300,000 joint). The calculator uses your annual pay as an estimate of modified AGI.
  • Married filing separately: not eligible.
  • Not on your paycheck: the deduction is claimed on your federal return. It does not reduce Social Security or Medicare.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my paycheck from an hourly wage?
Multiply your hourly rate by your regular hours, add overtime hours times your overtime rate, and multiply the weekly total by 52 for annual pay. Divide by your number of paychecks for gross pay per check, then subtract federal income tax, Social Security (6.2%) and Medicare (1.45%). At $18 an hour with 10 overtime hours a week, a single filer paid every two weeks takes home about $1,674.78 per paycheck before state tax.
How is overtime pay calculated?
Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, covered employees get at least 1.5 times their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. At $18 an hour, that is $27.00 per overtime hour. Some employers pay more, such as double time; change the multiplier in the calculator.
Is overtime taxed more than regular pay?
No. Overtime is taxed at the same rates as other wages. A bigger paycheck can mean more withholding that period, because withholding tables treat each paycheck as if it repeated all year, but your actual tax is settled on your annual return.
Does the no tax on overtime deduction lower my paycheck taxes?
Not automatically. The federal overtime deduction (up to $12,500, or $25,000 married filing jointly) is claimed on your federal return and covers only the premium part of overtime pay. It reduces federal income tax for the year, not Social Security or Medicare. This calculator shows it separately from the paycheck figures.
What is $18 an hour as an annual salary?
At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, $18 an hour is $37,440 a year. With 10 overtime hours a week at 1.5x, it is $51,480.
Does this calculator include state income tax?
No. It estimates federal income tax and FICA only. For state tax, use the paycheck calculator for your state.
