California does not have local income taxes. However, local sales tax rates vary significantly by jurisdiction, ranging from 0.10% to approximately 3.25% on top of the 7.25% state rate. Some cities and counties levy additional district taxes for transportation, public safety, and other purposes. The highest combined sales tax rates exceed 10.75% in certain jurisdictions.
OBBBA Conformity
California has not confirmed conformity with the federal OBBBA deductions for overtime and tips. Until the state legislature or tax authority acts, these deductions apply only on the federal return. California state income tax on those wages remains unchanged.
